This year two new PhD students started their work in the DSS team: Anton Namenas and Tobias Hübschen.

Anton started on January, 1st after finishing his Master thesis on a real-time SONAR simulator (supervised by Thorben Kaak). Anton studied electrical engineering at Kiel university and had also been in the team as a student assistant. He will now focus on robust real-time simulation of acoustic environments and automatic evaluation of speech communicaiton systems in adverse environments (in-car communication and breathing protection masks). By the way, Anton is the first PhD student in the team who is married when starting over here ... sorry girls!

Tobias came over from RWTH Aachen University, where he studied electrical engineering. During his Master thesis he worked on Kalman filter based echo cancellation. In his PhD time he will focus on quality evaluation of modern speech communication systems. This will be done in cooperation with the TU Berlin, Telekom, and SwissQual as part of a DFG project. Tobias is a gifted cook and he is not married yet!
